One of the nice improvements made at Adrian's Springbrook Middle School last summer was the development of the larger choir room. Take a look at the great new space in the video below. Maggard Razors supports Adrian music students and teachers. Click the image above to return the favor.

Dane Nelson has played an important role in two Maples Stadium concession stands.
“My father was the Adrian Athletic Director and designed the stadium,” Dane told us. “He was also a carpenter in the summer and often built bleachers and accessory buildings for the Adrian athletic fields. He needed some help when he was building the concession stand and I was it.” It took only a couple weeks to build, Dane recalled, but he and his dad must have done a pretty good job on that stand; it lasted about 50 years. It was taken down after the 2016 football season. Now, in its place – at the south end of the field – is a brand new facility. And Dane had a lot to do with its construction as well. He chaired a focus group to determine the best location and develop the design of the concession area, restrooms and ticketing booths. He attended several meetings and worked out details with the design engineer. He also helped to raise private funds for the plans and supported the millage effort by speaking at service clubs and other groups. “I'm just really happy that the Music Boosters are satisfied. I appreciate your early funding help that got the planning phase off the ground.” Thank you, Dane, for all you did on both concession stands and for contributing to the cause of music education. Studying vocal and instrumental music at Adrian High School can prepare you for future performing challenges, and even everyday life and work.
Lylah Slupe and AJ Howard will appear in The Croswell Opera House's production of Beauty and The Beast, September 22 through October 1. In the video above they talk of their love of performing, but also a couple of the ways that singing in Adrian choirs has helped them succeed. Watch our video "The Value of Music Education" to learn more about the benefits of studying music. The Adrian Music Boosters have a lot to be thankful for.
For close to fifty years, the old wooden concession stand at the north end of Maples Stadium served countless football fans and raised money for music education. But, over the last several seasons, it became obvious that the structure had seen better days. Now, thanks to Adrian voters, we have a brand new concession stand! Actually, it's hard to refer to it as a “stand.” It's a new, modern facility that's larger, more convenient, and better designed to serve customers: five windows, plenty of electrical outlets and storage space, stainless steel counters and sinks. The layout and amenities also make it much easier for our volunteer parents to work in. And the new stand is already representing Adrian well. During the first Junior Varsity game this year, a parent from the visiting school peaked inside the window, looked around and said, “Wow! I have concession stand envy!” But as much as we love the new stand itself, it's more than just a building; it's a blessing of our band, orchestra and choir programs by you and your neighbors. It's the Adrian community saying “we value and support music education.” And for that, we'll be eternally grateful. We're also thankful for the improvements to the choir and band rooms at Springbrook School, the 6-7-8 building. We're thankful for Music Booster supporters - the generous people who make donations to our cause, and the area companies that invest in Adrian music education through our advertising program. We're thankful for our parent volunteers - those who serve consistently as the core of the Music Boosters and those who pitch in when called upon during our annual Apple Pie Sale and other efforts. And we're thankful for Adrian music students and directors, as well as the school board members and administrators who support their work. As we learned from last May's Music Booster survey, so many Adrian music students look to singing and playing instruments as a way to express themselves. We think that should include expressing thanks at every opportunity. The simple act of saying “thank you” is a gift you can give to others who have given to you. It's a humble acknowledgment that's spoken far too infrequently these days. So we'd like to try to bring it back. That's why one of our themes for this school year is thankfulness. Look for more expressions of our thanks throughout the school year, and more encouragement to share your thanks in your daily life. For all you do in support of Adrian music, thank you. |
